How to Link Aadhaar Card with PAN Card Online

Linking your Aadhaar Card with your PAN Card is an important requirement for eligible taxpayers in India. If your PAN is not linked with Aadhaar, it can become inoperative, which may affect certain tax-related transactions and services.

The good news is that you can link Aadhaar with PAN online through the official Income Tax e-Filing portal. The process can be completed online using your PAN, Aadhaar number and a valid mobile number.

Aadhaar & PAN Card Linking Prosses

Step 1:- First, visit the official website by clicking on the link provided above.

Step 2:- Upon visiting the official website, you will find the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option; you will need to click on it.

Step 3:- A new page will open where you will see two options; you need to click on the first option, ‘Link Aadhaar’.

Step 4:- Then, you will arrive at a new page where you need to enter your PAN card number and Aadhaar card number and click ‘Next’.

Step 5:- As soon as you click ‘Next’, a new message will appear on your screen where you need to click on “Continue to pay through PayTax”.

Step 6:- Next, you need to enter your PAN card number and mobile number again, then click ‘Continue’. You will receive an OTP on your mobile number; enter that OTP and proceed by clicking ‘Continue’.

Step 7:- Next, the payment method will be displayed; you will need to select ‘Income Tax’ and proceed.

Step 8:- Next, you will see an option to select the assessment year; choose ‘2026-27’, select ‘Other Receipts (500)’ as the payment type, and then click ‘Continue’.

Step 9:- Then a receipt of ₹ 1000 will open in front of you where you will have to continue and make payment of ₹ 1000 through UPI or Net Banking.

Step 10:- Once you complete the payment, the option to download your challan receipt will appear; you can download and keep it for your records.

Step 11:- After paying the challan, you need to return to this portal after 1 to 2 hours and click on the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option.

Step 12:- Next, you will need to enter your PAN and Aadhaar numbers again and click on ‘Validate’. Upon clicking, a message will appear displaying your Challan number and BSR code; you must then click on ‘Continue’.

Step 13:- Next, you need to enter your name and mobile number and click on ‘Link Aadhaar’; an OTP will be sent to your mobile number—enter that OTP and proceed.

Step 14:- Once you enter the OTP, the request to link your PAN card and Aadhaar card will be successfully completed. After a few hours, your Aadhaar and PAN cards will be linked, and you will be notified via a message.
